About Northbridge

A small teaching university with a public journal, a working calendar, and a deliberately plain website.

Updated Oct 1, 2026

Northbridge is a fictional university built to show how a content site can be honest about its own operations. The academic programme is imagined; the content model is real.

What the example demonstrates

  • A journal, a student handbook, a people directory, and CMS-managed pages
  • A calendar collection edited through GitCMS and rendered as a month grid
  • Shared design tokens and components across three sites in one repository
  • Build-time validation for every content file

The idea of the place

The university in these pages is small on purpose. Seminars are capped, the library keeps late hours, and the calendar is treated as part of the teaching environment rather than a noticeboard.

How the site is made

Content lives in Markdown and JSON under apps/university/content. The site is a Next.js app in the same monorepo as Fieldnote and Mise. Publishing happens through a pull request, so the public history of the site is also the public history of its content.
