Student handbook / Support

Accessibility and support

Adjustments, wellbeing services, and the people who can help before a small problem becomes a large one.

Chapter 01Updated Sep 20, 2026

Support at Northbridge is not a separate building you visit once. It is a set of people and adjustments that should be available throughout the year.

Academic adjustments

If you need extra time, a different format, or a quieter room, contact student support as early as you can. Adjustments can usually be arranged without disclosing a diagnosis to individual tutors.

Wellbeing

The counselling service offers short-term support and referrals. Appointments are free and confidential. The student union also runs peer listening sessions during term.

Practical help

  • Assistive technology and loan equipment from the library
  • Accessible transport information from the estates office
  • Emergency financial support from the student services team
  • Quiet rooms in the library and the union building

Ask early

The most common piece of advice from students who have used these services is the same: ask earlier than you think you need to. Support works best before a deadline has already passed.
